We, Sagar Doshi and Phillip Hon,
have been immersed in student issues since we stepped foot on this campus, and we want to bring that passion to the next
level by serving students in the most productive way possible. Despite being at one of the most prestigious universities
in the world, Stanford is far from perfect. It is our duty to keep working at it. We will maintain the great ASSU services students
already use, and we will work to use the ASSU as a vehicle to support students in new ways. Our ideas include the following:
Increase student group efficiency with a universal space reservation system across campus
Provide easy-to-use equipment for student group's events
Enhance graduate life at Stanford- find solutions to healthcare and transportation issues, create more interdepartmental social programming, advocate for long-term diversity changes, and work with the Alumni Center to establish contacts between graduates and alumni in their fields
Make Old Union a real student union- not just another study space
Spread awareness on problems of diversity and sustainability at Stanford
Create more programming among the community centers and other groups to bring together different communities at Stanford
Ensure the student space in Tresidder remains student space
Ensure the revision of passage of the Acts of Intolerance Protocol
Work to reform the Draw
Ensure sustainability in our own practices and across the university
Create an online textbook marketplace
The two of us cannot wait to jump into the fray to start working on these issues. With
our experience with the university, we know what's feasible and what's not, so we
won't waste time in getting things done. We can't do this on our own, but with your
help, we can make it happen!
